Winner of GOP Auditor’s Race Looks Ahead to November as Runner-up Requests Recount

August 24, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The runner-up in the August 8th Republican Primary for State Auditor has exercised his right to request a state-funded recount of the votes cast in the election. Representative Jack Jackson of Wildwood, who lost by 1,844 votes to Platte County Auditor Sandra Thomas, realizes it’s going to be difficult to close the gap. But, he’s pinning his hopes on keeping a close watch over the recounting process in the 114 counties and the City of St. Louis. Thomas says she’s confident her victory will be upheld. She’s now moved on and is campaigning for November and her match-up with Democratic nominee Susan Montee.
