Runner-up in Auditor’s Race to Ask for Recount

August 23, 2006 By admin

The certification of the results from the August 8th Primary voting are now official, and Platte County Auditor Sandra Thomas is still the winner of the Republican Auditor’s race over State Representative Jack Jackson of Wildwood and three others. But Jackson isn’t giving up. He tells the Missourinet he will be at the Secretary of State’s office in Jefferson City on Thursday morning to formally ask for a recount. The margin of Thomas’s victory over Jackson was about six-tenths of a percentage point – within the one-percent margin that triggers a recount upon the request of the runner-up. Jackson says he owes it to himself, his staff, and his supporters to move forward with the request for a recount of all the ballots.
