Last season, Carlos Beltran was getting the A-Rod treatment from Mets fans. This year, as Yankee fans continue to complain about A-Rod, Beltran is winning the favor of Mets followers.

Beltran made himself a little more popular with a walk-off home run that gave the Mets an 8-7 win over the Cardinals, Tuesday. His 36th homer of the year overshadowed a two-homer effort from teammate Carlos Delgado that included a grand slam.

Delgado’s grand slam, his second homer of the game, came in the same inning as Albert Pujols’ grand slam for the Cardinals.

Pujols’ actually homered in back-to-back innings, collecting a career-high seven RBI. But Pujols received little to no help from his compadres. Juan Encarnacion was the only other Cardinal to have a multi-hit game.

Jason Isringhausen surrendered the walk-off homer for his ninth blown save of the year.

Mets reliever Aaron Heilman got the win.
