The Secretary of State’s office has certified the results of the August 8th Primary elections. And, the winner in the Republican primary for State Auditor still is Platte County Auditor Sandra Thomas. In fact, she opened her lead from the unofficial results of two weeks ago and now leads her closest competitor, Representative Jack Jackson of Wildwood, by 1,844 votes. Carnahan says since the difference is only six-tenths of one percent, Jackson can get a taxpayer financed recount. That request must come within a week from Wednesday and the recount and recertification must be completed in 20 calendar days. Carnahan says the law calls for just one recount. She is not sure what would happen if the recount showed a significant difference from the certified results.
