Royals Sweep Doubleheader

August 19, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The Oakland Athletics came into Kansas City riding a 12-game winning streak at Kauffman Stadium. That meant nothing to a Royals team that has been playing the role of spoiler for potential playoff teams. The 12-game streak for Oakland turned into a two game losing skid in just one night. The Royals won both games of Friday’s double-header.

The first game saw the Royals break open a 2-1 lead with four runs in the seventh inning, on their way to a 7-1 win.

The nightcap saw the Royals turn a 3-1 deficit into a 5-3 win with a four-run eighth inning.
