Thomas Defeats Jackson in GOP Auditor Primary

August 9, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

A final tally is in, finally, and Platte County Auditor Sandra Thomas has won the Republican Primary for State Auditor in an narrow victory over Representative Jack Jackson of Wildwood. Thomas held on after her 15,000 vote margin narrowed to less than 2,000 votes. Thomas won 86,681 votes and Jackson had 84,963; a margin of 1,718. Indications from the Jackson camp are that Jackson will request a recount. The margin is well within the one percent threshold needed to automatically trigger a recount upon the candidate’s request. Neither Thomas nor Jackson have been speaking to the news media.
