There is a third choice for voters today, casting ballots in the State Auditor’s race. University City financial planner Charles Baum doesn’t see how any Republican or Democrat can claim they would be an independent State Auditor. He says politics has so infused everything he doesn’t see how an auditor from either party can be objective. Baum says, as a Libertarian, he offers a true choice for independence. Baum says an Auditor needs to reduce waste in state government, find fraud and account for the taxpayer’s dollar. He favors performance audits and says the Auditor should push to eliminate un-necessary state programs.Baum’s in the race, but doesn’t expect to win. He says it’s highly doubtful he will win the election in November. He says that’s the reality of a third party candidate. Baum says if he gets 5% of the vote he will probably faint. He says he’s in the race to get experience in running and to give people a choice. Baum insists that if voters truly understood the Libertarian philosophy of less government more would vote for him.
