Coughran Slams Springfield

August 8, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The Springfield Cardinals only produced two hits, scored one run, and committed two errors but they still had a chance to win.

That was until Midlands Cameron Coughlan came up in the bottom of the ninth and belted his first homer of the year, a walk-off grand slam to win the game 5-1, Monday

The Cardinals didn’t get a hit off Midland starter Kevin Melillo until the sixth inning. Melillo one-hit Springfield giving up one unearned run in 7.1 innings. Jared Burton got credit for the win allowing a hit in 1.1 innings of work.

Jared Hoffpauir scored the only run for the Cardinals, singling in the sixth and later scoring on a wild pitch.
