Travelers Rally Late Against Springfield

August 4, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The Springfield Cardinals came out rocking, scoring three runs in the first two innings, but couldn’t hold on as Arkansas rallied in the seventh and eighth innings to upend the Cardinals 5-3, Thursday.

Juan Richardson was 3-for-4 for Springfield including an RBI in the first inning. Reid Gorecki had two hits. His two-run homer in the second gave the visitors a 3-0 lead.

Cardinals starter Jordan Pals was pitching pretty well until the Travelers finally got to him in the seventh inning. Pals finished with the loss, surrendering four runs – three earned – in 6.1 innings. Arkansas, trailing 3-1, rallied for three runs in the seventh inning to take the lead. Devin Day drove in two runs with a double then scored on Eric Rodland’s RBI double later in the inning. Terry Evans, who was traded from Springfield earlier in the year, homered in the ninth to add another run to the lead.
