One of the Republicans in Tuesday’s Primary Election in west-central Missouri’s 4th Congressional District is being sued by the wife of another of the candidates. Attorney Janice Noland, wife of perennial GOP candidate Jim Noland, is suing Alan Conner, claiming Conner made two angry and threatening phone calls to her on or about July 15th. A copy of the lawsuit indicates the plaintiff is requesting unspecified punitive damages for what the plaintiff terms “intentional and malicious threats and harassments and emotional distress.” The Conner for Congress campaign has responded to the filing of the suit with the following statement: “As we all know anyone can file suit against anybody. Desperate people do Desperate things. Since it is now a legal matter its in the hands of my attorneys. I will not be surprised if this suit is dropped after we win the primary on Tuesday.” Both Conner and Jim Noland are vying for the opportunity to challenge incumbent Democratic Congressman Ike Skelton in November.
