Phillies pitcher Cole Hamel didn’t look anything like a rookie in the Phillies 8-1 win over the Cardinals, Thursday.

Hamel held the Redbirds offense to two hits while striking out 12 batters, securing a three-game sweep of the Cardinals. Second baseman Chase Utley had three hits, extending his hitting streak to a major league leading 35 games. Chris Coste was 4-for-5 with two RBI, Aaron Rowand chipped in with three hits of his own.

Ronnie Belliard and Albert Pujols recorded the only hits for the Cardinals. Scott Rolen drove in the lone run.

St. Louis has been swept in its last two series. They lost four in a row to the rival Cubs at Wrigley Field before dropping three straight at home to the Phillies.
