Governor Matt Blunt is calling on the Federal Emergency Management Agency to expand public assistance available for the City of St. Louis and to add Oregon and Franklin Counties to the disaster declaration in the wake of the damaging storms that hit the area in July. On July 21st, a federal disaster declaration was issued for St. Louis, St. Louis County, Dent County, Iron County, Jefferson County, St. Charles County, and Washington County. Under the current declaration, FEMA is authorized to provide limited debris removal and emergency protective measures. This latest request, if granted, would expand the declaration to all public assistance categories.
