Specifics were not released, but the Chiefs have agreed in principle to a trade with the Saints that’ll bring a backup to Larry Johnson.

Chiefs running back Priest Holmes still hasn’t given word to the organization on whether he’ll return this season. He suffered a neck injury last season and is still awaiting medical clearance to return. Kansas City is moving on without him.

Running back Michael Bennett, who became expendable when the Saints drafted Reggie Bush, will come to Kansas City and is expected to report to camp in River Falls, WI at some point today. The trade is based on Bennett passing a physical.

Bennett made the Pro Bowl with the Vikings in 2002. During that season, the former first-round pick gained 1,296 yards rushing. His statistics have dropped since then and he only started six games last year gaining 473 yards.
