Jeff Suppan remained unbeaten against the Rockies this season and Jim Edmonds was 3-for-3 with an RBI in the Cardinals 6-1 win over Colorado.
Suppan improved his unblemished record to 3-0 this year, going six innings allowing one run on five hits and striking out three.
The Cardinals took the series 2-1, but winning Game 3 looked a lot harder on paper before the game. Manager Tony LaRussa didn’t start Albert Pujols, Yadier Molina, or Juan Encarnacion. Without those guys in the lineup, a chance was opened up for other unlikely heroes to emerge. Outfielder John Rodriguez was 2-for-3, and Aaron Miles hit his first home run of the season.
Losing pitcher Aaron Cook gave up four runs on eight hits in 6.2 innings.
