Royals And ChiSox Swap Players

July 25, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The Royals traded former All-Star pitcher Mike MacDougal to the White Sox for two minor league pitchers.

MacDougal was the Royals pitcher of the year in 2005 but missed the first 87 games of this season because a shoulder injury.

Kansas City will get left-hander Tyler Lumsden and right-hander Daniel Cortes, both starters.

Lumsden has made 20 starts for the Birmingham Barons in Class AA this season. He posted a 9-4 record with a 2.69 ERA.

Cortes is just 19-years-old and is more of a project than Lumsden. The right-hander has been playing for Class A Kannapolis with a 3-9 record and 4.10 ERA.
