The Cardinals arrived at hitter friendly Coors Field only to find out Jeff Francis wasn’t as friendly. The left hander defied conventional wisdom and shut out the Redbirds in a 7-0 win, Monday.

Francis mystified St. Louis, holding them to just two hits and striking out eight for the complete-game victory. The only thing the Cardinals could muster up against the crafty veteran was a single by Yadier Molina in the sixth inning and a double by Albert Pujols in the seventh. The visitors only managed to get five balls out of the infield.

Garret Atkins and Clint Barnes both homered for the Rockies. The Cardinals were held homerless for the first time in 19 games.

Rookie Anthony Reyes took the loss, tossing 5.1 innings, surrendering six runs on nine hits.
