St. Louis University President Lawrence Biondi describes his escape from Lebanon as exhausting and violent. He says he could feel the ground shaking from bombs as he waited three hours at the airport to clear security. But the airport had been bombed so Biondi had to take a half-hour bus trip through Beirut to reach a cruise ship which sat at the dock for more than 6 hours before an eight-hour trip to Cyprus where he caught another ship to France and an airplane home.
