Jason Marquis pitched eight shutout innings, becoming the National League’s first 12-game winner this season, beating the Dodgers 6-1.

The win completed a Cardinals sweep of Los Angeles for the second weekend in a row. St. Louis swept the Dodgers in a four-game set last weekend.

Juan Encarnacion (3-for-4) homered for St. Louis; marking the 19th straight game the team has hit a round tripper.

Chad Billingsley took the loss, pitching five innings allowing six runs – five earned – on six hits and walking five.
