Jeff Suppan gave the Cardinals seven shutout innings, scattering five hits along the way as the Birds beat the Dodgers 2-0, Friday.

Chris Duncan scored both runs for St. Louis. His solo homer in the fourth inning started the scoring for both teams; he later scored again on a Juan Encarnacion RBI single in the sixth.

Jason Isringhausen allowed the potential game-winning run to come to the plate, but retired the final two batters in the ninth to get his National League leading 27th save.

St. Louis has won six of eight since the All-Star break and nine of their last 11 overall. They swept the Dodgers in four games last weekend.
