A pair of homers and a brilliant return to the mound lifted the Royals past the Angels 8-3.
David DeJesus and Mark Grudzielanek both hit three-run blasts to lead the way for the Royals. Kansas City has scored 17 runs in two games against the Angels after totaling four runs in their previous three-game series in Boston.
Runelvys Hernandez made his first start for the Royals in almost two months but didn’t look like he missed a beat. Hernandez pitched a solid 7.1 innings giving up three runs on five hits and striking out six to get his second win of the year.
Former pitcher Mark Gubicza was inducted into the Royals Hall of Fame before the contest.
