Doyne Blows Relief, Springfield Loses

July 21, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The Springfield Cardinals took a 7-5 lead into the eighth inning before Chris Lubanski’s RBI single started a three-run inning and boosted Wichita to an 8-7 win, Thursday.

The rally started on a leadoff double by Mitch Maier and Justin Gemoll walk. That’s when Lubanski struck his blow and ending the night for losing pitcher Cory Doyne.

Jarret Hoffpauir and Shaun Boyd both homered for the Cardinals.

Doyne gave up three runs on two hits in the eight, he never recorded an out. His effort ruined any chances of starter Eric Haberer getting the win. Haberer lasted 5.1 innings surrendering five runs – four earned – on three hits and striking out four.
