Wichita Blows Out Springfield

July 20, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

Cody Haerther led off the third inning with his ninth homer of the season, but it was the only run Springfield could muster up as they suffered an 11-1 blowout loss to Wichita.

Zack Greinke continues to try and work his way back to the major leagues. The right hander gave up just one run on seven hits in seven innings to get the win.

Wichita got a major boost offensively from Alex Gordon, who homered and had three RBI. His two-run single in the second helped the Wranglers build a 6-0 lead.

Wichita wasn’t done, however, blowing the game wide open with five more runs in the fourth.

Jordan Pals suffered most of the damage on the mound for Springfield, surrendering 11 runs – nine earned – on 12 hits in only 3.1 innings.
