The ranking Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee is siding with President Bush by saying Iran’s and Syria’s backing of Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon are the cause of the current crisis between Israel and Lebanon. After meeting with the President on the Middle East situation, west central Missouri Congressman Ike Skelton says Syria’s financial backers need to put pressure on Syria to stop funding the terrorist group. Skelton says Iran will be a bit more tricky and will take more international sanctions. He agrees with the President’s evaluation that Israel has a right to defend itself.
