What have you done for me lately?

That question has spelled doom for a lot of coaches in professional sports. In a realm where money is the end all, past accomplishments can be as irrelevant as Kool-Aid with no sugar.

Kansas City Wizards coach Bob Gansler is the latest casualty. Six playoff performances and two championships couldn’t trump 26 games of futility this year. Gansler was asked to resign by general manager Curt Johnson after the Wizards managed only six wins since last August.

Gansler coached the Wizards in parts of eight seasons, collecting an 86-85-51 record.

Assistant coach Brian Bliss will take over the head coaching duties.
