Timetable Set for Legal Challenge to Workers’ Comp Law

July 18, 2006 By admin

The legal challenge to Missouri’s Workers’ Compensation Law is moving through the courts, slowly but surely. Lawyers appeared before Cole County Circuit Judge Byron Kinder on Tuesday to lay out a schedule for hearing the case. Marc Ellinger is an attorney representing Associated Industries of Missouri, which has been granted status to intervene on behalf of employers. He says Tuesday’s court proceeding simply set the table for arguments that will be held down the road. Over the coming months, various documents and briefs will be presented, with oral arguments expected to heard sometime in October. The Workers’ Comp Bill was passed by the General Assembly and signed into law in 2005. The suit challenging the law was filed last November.
