PSC Chair Considering Hot Weather Rule

July 18, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

Temperatures this week are rising to dangerous levels, and the Chairman of the Public Service Commission is concerned too many people will worry about their cooling bills instead of doing what it takes to stay healthy. Jeff Davis says although Missouri has a rule to keep utilities from turning off the heat in the winter, there’s nothing stopping utilities from shutting off electricity – and in turn, air conditioners – in the summertime. Davis says the PSC has looked at a hot weather rule in the past, but it never got off the ground. He says he’s considering suggesting one as part of the Missouri Energy Task Force’s recommendations to come out in about a month and a half.
