Missions Blank Springfield

July 17, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

San Antonio hit three home runs and Travis Blackley pitched seven shutout innings as the Missions blanked the Springfield Cardinals 7-0, Sunday.

Wladimir Balentien hit one of the homers and drove in three RBIs, Michael Wilson hit a three-run homer, and Yung Chi Chen capped off the dinger party with a homer of his own.

Blackley scattered four hits and struck out four batters. He didn’t allow a runner to reach third base until the seventh inning. Stephen Kahn and Craig James worked the game in relief. Kahn held the lead in the eighth while James finished the ninth to earn the save.

Losing pitcher Chris Lambert gave up three runs on seven hits in 6.1 innings.
