Batting behind Albert Pujols can jumpstart any players career. Cardinals’ outfielder Chris Duncan certainly understands that and is showing his appreciation quite nicely. Duncan had his second straight three-hit game, scoring all three times on hits by Pujols in the Redbirds 11-3 blowout win over the Dodgers.
Pujols did his part going 4-for-5 and driving in three RBIs, Yadier Molina chipped in with three hits and three RBIs, and starter Anthony Reyes went five innings giving up two runs and striking out five as St. Louis completed a four-game sweep of L.A. and pushed their winning streak to seven games.
Brad Penny was roughed up in his first outing since starting for the National League in the All-Star game. Penny (10-3) surrendered six runs on 10 hits in five innings.
