Pitching was the name of the game as the Springfield Cardinals edged out Corpus Christi 2-1. Jordan Pals threw six innings allowing one run on eight hits to earn his seventh win of the year. Mark Worrell recorded the game’s final four outs for his 22nd save. Springfield won for the eighth time in nine games.

Jarrett Hoffpauir had two doubles in the game, in the second and sixth innings, driving in runs on both. Cody Haerther and Iker Franco both added two hits for Springfield.

Worrell’s outing started amidst a CC threat in the eighth. But with the bases loaded and two out, Worrell was able to strike out pinch-hitter Derek Nicholson. The ninth inning was quieter for Worrell, who escaped a one-out double to secure the Cardinal’s win.
