Some of the cream of the “inside the Beltway” Democratic Party crop are getting together to raise money for Claire McCaskill in her bid to unseat incumbent Republican Senator Jim Talent. A dinner to benefit the McCaskill for Senate Campaign is scheduled for Monday, July 17th, in Washington, D.C. Among those serving as hosts for the event are former Senator Tom Daschle of South Dakota and his wife, Linda, one of Washington’s best known lobbyists; Vernon Jordan, former National Urban League President and advisor to President Bill Clinton; former U.S. Commerce Secretary Mickey Kantor; and Democratic lobbyists Heather and Tony Podesta. Suggested contributions for the dinner range from $500 for a personal donation to $5,000 to co-host the event. Closer to home, former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno headlines a fundraiser for McCaskill in St. Louis on Wednesday, July 19th.
