Settlement Reached in Joplin Wrongful Death Suit

July 7, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

Parents of a child who was accidentally shot to death while in foster care in Joplin have settled a wrongful death lawsuit against the foster parents for $100,000. However, their lawsuit against the State Children’s Division remains active. The insurance company for Mark and Treva Gordon is paying the money to Brandie McClain, whose eight-year-old son was shot in the head by a 14-year-old boy while the kids playing cops and robbers. The 14-year-old has been convicted of involuntary manslaughter and has been put in the custody of the State Divison of Youth Services until he is 17.
