Missouri’s men on the Congressional Armed Services Committees agree that China might be part of the solution to the current crisis with North Korea testing some long-range missiles. The top Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee, west central Missouri Congressman Ike Skelton, prefers diplomacy to bring the situation under control with the Chinese playing a significant role. Senator Jim Talent, on the Senate Armed Services Committee, says he is cautiously pleased with China’s efforts to diffuse the situation … to a point. Talent says this incident underscores the need to move forward with missile defense technology. Skelton says it is much too early to consider any kind of military action against the North Koreans. He says the United States already has plenty on its military plate.
