Funeral services will be held this weekend for two Missouri soldiers killed in the Middle East, and demonstrators will be there from the Reverend Fred Phelps’ group from Topeka, Kansas. The funeral for Army PFC Brian Bradbury, who was killed in Afghanistan, will be held in St. Joseph on Saturday with burial in Kansas. Phelps’ group plans protests at both events. The group also plans to be in Kirksville for the funeral of Marine PFC Rex Page on Sunday. The Legislature passed a law this year limiting protests at funerals, primarily because of the actions of Phelps’ organization. The Phelps group protests at funerals of fallen U.S. soldiers in the belief that God killed these individuals because they were fighting for a country that tolerates homosexuality.
