The one-time face of the Royals future, Zach Greinke, battled during spring training with mental problems. He left the team and went to home to deal with his issues. He’s since returned to baseball working through the Minors in hopes of becoming a big leaguer again.

Greinke made huge strides pitching a complete game for Wichita in an 8-1 win over the Springfield Cardinals. The most impressive part of his performance was probably the 12 strike outs he recorded, the two hits given up, or the one lone run he allowed, which came in the last inning.

The 22-year-old right hander is 3-1 in seven starts for the Wranglers and is expected to rejoin the Royals this month.

Wichita sprinkled four runs around a four-run sixth inning. Dee Brown hit a two-run homer in the inning giving the Wranglers a 4-0 lead. Chris Lubanski also homered in the game.

Blake Hawksworth took the loss for Springfield allowing six runs on 10 hits in five innings remaining winless in AAA since being called up from Class A Advanced Palm Beach.
