The Governor of Illinois has gotten into the discussions about paying for a new Mississippi River bridge at St. Louis, and he says there’s no way Illinois will go along with Missouri’s proposal to make it a toll bridge. Missouri highway officials say this state has no other way to finance its share of the bridge. But Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich says the idea of charging 83,000 Illinois residents a toll to get to their jobs in Missouri is “abhorrent.” He’s urging Missouri leaders to support a much cheaper alternative to the original proposal, which would cost more than $900-Million.
