What’s going on with the Springfield Cardinals? After finishing a game out of first in the first half of the Texas League season, the Cardinals have only won one out of six after the all-star break. They fell to 1-5 after losing to Corpus Christi 7-3 Tuesday.

The Hooks got a majority of its offense from Hunter Pence who went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs.

Pence leads the league with 20 home runs this year. His three-run shot in the eighth was his third in five games.

He isn’t the only batter in the Hooks lineup having a good year. Left fielder Jorge Cortes went 1-for-4, extending his hitting streak to 23 games. It’s the longest streak in the Minors this year.

Justin Garza came on in relief for starter Blake Hawksworth. Garza gave up three runs and four hits in just 2/3 inning to get the loss.
