The company whose animal waste processing plant has stunk up Carthage time after time is going to pay the state $100,000 in penalties for violating clean air regulations. The Attorney General’s office says it’s the biggest such penalty in state history. Renewable Environmental Solutions also has agreed to pay $25,000 for each future odor violation. The company has not admitted any wrondoing in agreeing to the penalty. The company is squeezing about 300 barrels of crude oil per day by reprocessing offal from a turkey processing plant. It was shut down for several weeks earlier this year but has been running for several months with new air-cleaning equipment.
