Springfield Having Tough Second Half

June 27, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The Springfield Cardinals showed a lot of promise in the first half of the Texas League season. They finished a game back of champion Tulsa and even had a chance to win the division with a win in the last game. The second half of the season hasn’t been so generous for the Cardinals so far. Springfield fell to 1-4 after a 7-4 loss to Corpus Christi.

Jorge Cortes went 3-for-4 with two RBIs extending his hitting streak to 22 games, matching the longest streak in the Minors this year.

Walter Young homered for the sixth time this year and drove in four RBIs for the Hooks.

Springfield starter Jordan Pals took the loss giving up seven runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings.
