Governor Matt Blunt has signed into law the education appropriations bill, providing $3.9-Billion for public schools in the 2007 Fiscal Year, which begins July 1st. During a signing ceremony at Blair Oaks Elementary School in Wardsville, the Governor pointed out this is a 4.6 percent increase in education spending on top of last year’s 4.4 percent spending hike. This year’s funding includes an additional $127.9-Million for the school funding formula, $15-Million for the Small Schools Program, $6-Million in new funding for costs incurred by school districts to educate severely disabled children, an additional $1.8-Million for A+ Schools, and a 1-Million dollar increase for expansion of Missouri’s Parents as Teachers program.
