Mavericks Stadium Plan Approved

June 20, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The Mid-Missouri Mavericks have taken a step closer to having a new home. An agreement was made between the City Council and Columbia Professional Baseball on a plan to build a new $10 million stadium.

The Mavericks currently play at MU’s Taylor Stadium but are failing to attract huge numbers of fans. Brad and Gary Wendt, brothers and owners of the team, feel the lack of popularity is due to not having their own place to play. Residents in the area feel the lack of support is due to the team’s failing success on the field. In the three years since the team arrived, the Mavericks are 92-186.
