Of the bills from the 2006 legislative session that have now been signed into law by Governor Matt Blunt, one has very special meaning to a State Representative who sponsored the legislation in honor of a family member. Representative Tim Meadows of Imperial sponsored a bill requiring Missouri state buildings to fly the flag at half-staff on September 11th – the anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks. Meadows says the idea was inspired by his late older brother, who was an FBI agent who worked with many of the victims of the 9-11 attacks. Meadows says so even though September 11th, 2001, was a relatively short time ago, too many people have either forgotten or don’t grasp the significance of the anniversary. He says flying the flag at half-staff should make the date more meaningful.
