A Washington group financed by road building interests says Missouri is $10-Billion dollars behind on spending for its Interstate Highway System. The Road Information Program says it agrees with figures from the Missouri Transporation Department. TRIP, as it’s known, says traffic on Missouri’s Interstates has gone up almost 30 percent in 15 years and will go up another 40 percent in the next 20 years. But it says almost 20 percent of Interstate pavement in Missouri already is mediocre and more than 20 percent of the Interstate bridges are deteriorating or already are obsolete.
