Bond Urges Vigilance in Wake of Canadian Terrorist Plot

June 7, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The discovery of an alleged terrorist plot in Canada has Missouri’s man on the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee talking up the importance of remaining vigilant. Senator Kit Bond says the events north of the border prove terrorism remains a threat. And, he praises the work of Canadian authorities in foiling the plot. Bond and his colleagues on the Senate Intelligence Committee expect to get the details, soon, on how the scheme was stopped. He says that hearing will be a closed session to avoid tipping off potential terrorists. As for some of the tactics already being used by the United States, Bond says the Patriot Act has already been instrumental in preventing further terrorist acts on U.S. soil.
