Some western states have started sending National Guardsmen to the border with Mexico to help beleagured U.S. Border Patrol agents, but Guardsmen in this state are being kept in the dark about when – or even if – they would have to go and what they would have to do once there. Captain Tammy Spicer says there are plenty of Missouri Guardsmen who could go to the border if asked. But Spicer admits no one at the Pentagon has given the Missouri Guard any kind of timeframe of when anyone might have to take a turn at border patrol duty, and no specifics on preparations they should be making now for the mission. Spicer says this state’s Guard is relying on the fact that it won’t be asked to do anything it hasn’t done before.
