The normally high powered Springfield offense was tamed by three Frisco pitchers. The Cardinals were held to just five hits and one run in a 5-1 loss to the RoughRiders Friday.

John Danks got the start for Frisco and pitched seven innings of three hit ball. Frank Francisco and Michael Bumstead each pitched an inning in relief neither giving up a run.

The RoughRiders got two home runs in the game. Kevin Richardson hit a two-run homer in the fifth to give Frisco a 2-1 lead. Anthony Webster, who extended his hitting streak to 13 games, hit a solo homer in the sixth.

Mike Parisi took the loss for the Cardinals (31-22). He pitched 5 1/3 innings allowing three runs on eight hits.

Springfield scored its only run in the second. Brian Martin’s RBI single drove in Rico Washington. The Cardinals have now lost three straight games.

The latest skid has dropped the Cardinals into second place in the Texas League North behind Tulsa.
