The Major League Baseball amateur draft is next Tuesday and that means a lot of decisions will be made between now and then. One of those decisions was made by Missouri State’s two-sport athlete Scott Carroll.
The quarterback by fall and pitcher by spring decided that baseball would be his future. Carroll will stick to baseball whether he signs a contract or not. He is hoping to be drafted in the first four rounds, but even if he isn’t drafted that high his gridiron days are over. If Carroll is not happy with his draft position or with the money he is offered he will return to school and pitch for the bears in the spring.
As a quarterback, the Purdue University transfer started 10 games and threw for 1,394 yards and nine touchdowns. On the mound, he was 6-4 with a 3.63 ERA. Part of his decision was due to the fact that he only has one season of eligibility left as a football player but two as a baseball player.
