A Raymore family is wondering if it will be split up by the federal government. Myrna Dick is married to an American citizen and has a son born in the U S. Immigration authorities are trying to have her deported back to Mexico. Dick is 31 now and entered the United States at the age of 12. The claim by immigration officials, though, is that she entered the country illegally and used a false name to cross the border. Dick’s lawyer, Rayka Crawford, says she’s filing an appeal for a stay of the order with the U.S. Supreme Court this week, but the clock is ticking. Crawford says the Dick family is under mounting pressure with a June 12th deadline approaching. Dick faced deportation in 2004, under charges she lied about her citizenship while crossing the border. Though the U.S. Senate passed an immigration reform bill recently, Crawford says even if it is reconciled with the U.S. House, it probably won’t impact Myrna Dick’s case.Crawford says the case has been complicated, because it has been transferred from one federal court to another.
