All nine starters in the Springfield Cardinals’ lineup recorded a base hit in their 10-1 win over the Frisco Rough-Riders on Thursday. Particularly tough on the Frisco pitching staff were Brian Martin and Rayner Laya. Martin was 4-for-5 with three RBIs, three runs scored and a homer. Meanwhile Laya was 4-for-4 with two runs scored who were a combined 8-for-9 with five RBIs and four runs scored.

Martin’s two-run homer in the eighth inning capped a four-run rally to put the game away for Springfield.

Cardinals’ starting pitcher Jordan Pals (3-1) lasted into the seventh inning and worked around eight hits and two walks to get the win. Reliever Cory Doyne finished off the final 2.1 innings, giving up just one hit.

Springfield has a two-game lead over Tulsa for first in the Texas League North.
