The State Board of Education has decided to take away the accredited status of the Wyaconda C-1 School District in northeast Missouri, leaving the District unaccredited. Education Commissioner Kent King says performance in the District has been poor and there are few signs of any improvement. He says the District will have two years in which to regain some form of accredited status. If not, the District will be taken over by the state, as was done with the Wellston School District in St. Louis County. Wyaconda is a small District, with only about 40 students.
