Maybe the Royals can take a long hard look at the Detroit Tigers and gain some confidence. After all, the Tigers were the laughing stock of Major League baseball just a few years ago. So far this year they are the best team in baseball.

Well, right now the Royals are tight roping the thought that they might be the worse team in baseball…HISTORY. They are 10-33 overall, 2-20 on the road, and have lost their last 11 games. Oh, this isn’t just a recent skid, this is the second time this season Kansas City has lost double digit games in a row. The last three Royals teams have finished with the three worst records in franchise history.

Detroit didn’t make matters any better for the Royals Tuesday. The Tigers seemed like they tried their hardest to show some mercy for the Royals. They spotted Kansas City a four run lead before taking the game over and winning 8-5.

The eight Tiger runs all came in the last four innings including four runs in the eighth. The closing woes continue for the Royals. Ambiorix Burgos was demoted earlier this year after three straight blown saves. Manager Buddy Bell inserted Elmer Dessens into the role and all he did was blow a save Tuesday.

Kelly Grunderson’s two-run double in the eighth sparked a four-run inning. Craig Monroe hit a RBI single in the ninth to give the Tigers some added breathing room for the final half inning.

Joel Zumaya got the win in relief for Detroit. Kenny Rogers started for the Tigers, but didn’t impress. He gave up five runs on 10 hits in 6 1/3.
